Overview
Overview: Under general direction from the Building Systems Manager and/or Director of Operations the Building Systems Technician performs duties associated with the maintenance and repair of the venues mechanical operating systems.
This role pays an annual salary of $55,000 CAD - $75,000 CAD.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Assist with the overall daily operation and maintenance of the mechanical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc…) at the South Okanagan Events Centre, Okanagan Hockey Group Training Centre, Penticton Trade & Convention Centre and Memorial Arena
Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of the facilities mechanical equipment
Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision
Operate a wide variety of equipment used in the maintenance of the facility such as high lifts, fork lifts, ladders, drills, torches, saws, grinders etc…
Ensure assign tasks have been completed in a timely manner according to department and venue standards
Maintain detailed records of work completed
Receive and maintain supplies
Maintain storage areas and equipment in designated areas in a neat and orderly manner
Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities
Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work: staff, contractors, facility users…
Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended number of days
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12
Specialized training and/or diploma in HVAC maintenance or other related venue mechanical operating system(s)
2–4 years’ experience in general maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other related venue mechanical systems
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to function in fast-paced, constantly changing, high pressure environment
Demonstrate attention to detail
Familiarity of Windows based computer programs
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Familiarity with WorkSafe BC, BC Safety Authority and CSA standards and regulations as related to facilities
Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
Physical Demands:
While performing duties of this job, employee is required to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders; work from heights; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach within hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
